Welcome to the Field of Grace Journal
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by.
This journal is a little corner of our website where I’ll share what’s happening in the garden — the dahlias, the changing seasons, the lessons learned and the everyday moments that make this journey so special.
If you’re wondering about the flowers in the photo above, that’s Café au Lait — the dahlia that started it all for me (and, I suspect, for just about everyone who has ever fallen for dahlias). Those big, blush-and-cream blooms stole my heart first, and before long they had stolen my eldest daughter’s too, as we talked about growing the flowers for her wedding. Fast forward seven years, and the collection just keeps on growing… and growing.
Field of Grace grows in our 1-acre home garden, where flowers have always been my place of rest. Much of my love for growing comes from my mother, Vovó, who still has the greenest thumbs of anyone I know. Some of my favourite moments are spent walking through the garden with her, sharing ideas and learning from her wisdom.
Here you can expect:
Stories from the garden and behind-the-scenes updates
Tips for growing, lifting, dividing and storing dahlia tubers
News on new releases and The Grace Collection
Reflections on faith, family and the season we’re in
A little confession about those tips: most of them have been learned the hard way. I’ve made more mistakes than I can count, especially this season as we got ready to finally open for sales. And then there was last year, when we had such a terrible infestation that Vovó — ever so helpful — grabbed what she thought was the Rose Shield… and it turned out to be the weed killer. But that’s another story for another day, and another journal entry.
I’m so grateful you’re here. Grace grows one season at a time, and I’d love for you to grow along with us.
With love,
Sandra
